OJEIKERE : hairstyles

Exhibited: May 5 - June 2
Work by J.D. 'Okhai Ojeikere

Wedge Gallery was pleased to present the Canadian premier of the Nigerian photographer Ojeikere, entitled hairstyles. For over thirty years, he has documented women's hairstyles, considering them to be ephemeral creations, made and unmade by time. These beautiful images contain ancient history, accumulated knowledge and the present state of a living culture. This exhibition was presented at Shift Gallery (formerly SOF Art House.)
